Juneteenth, which has been observed in African-American communities across the country for more than 150 years, was finally recognized as a national holiday when President Joe Biden signed the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act into law in 2021.
This Juneteenth, we are honored to celebrate the achievements of three Black-owned organizations that are making a difference in their communities:
Russell Innovation Center for Entrepreneurs (RICE)
Brown Toy Box exists to give Black and Brown children positive depictions of themselves and promote achievement by combining education with play. The organization produces culturally affirming educational materials for students from pre-kindergarten through sixth grade. The Brown Toy Box curriculum ranges from coding to chemistry to marine biology to museum arts, with an emphasis on STEAM learning. In addition, the site provides resources for parents and educators.(Wedesigned their website.)
A James Global Services, Inc.
A James Global Services, Inc. builds success from the ground up. The company’s facility support solutions are designed to help organizations minimize their overhead, optimize their office space, and serve their communities. AJGS uses a centralized, efficient, supportive, and cost-effective approach to manage construction and renovation projects at a range of commercial and government facilities.(Badie Designs recently updated the company’s website with new content and a more modern design.)
These organizations and others like them are honoring Juneteenth by providing Black entrepreneurs and underserved communities with ways to achieve, succeed, and promote equality every day of the year.
